“Taking time out each day to relax and renew is essential to living well. You can't make yourself be compassionate, you can only keep stepping back and becoming a larger container in which compassion wants to live.”
― Judith Hanson Lasater
I began to practice and study yoga at a young age in San Francisco, CA, where I continue to teach and live. Some of my earliest memories are of balancing in Vriksasana, tree pose and resting silently in Savasana. This wasn’t unusual growing up in a Buddhist household. My parents wove Eastern philosophy and reflective practices into daily life. For this and many other things, I am eternally grateful.
It wasn’t until graduating from university and returning home from an extended trip to Nepal and India, did I begin to head the call to teach. After years of dedicated practice, I have gained confidence and self awareness - on and off the mat.
My teaching is alignment based and anatomically informed. I seek to elevate the standard of yoga teaching through clear and direct instruction, consistent practice and appropriate modifications. My specialities include Restorative Yoga and Hatha Yoga. I incorporate the use of props to help students create positions of comfort and ease as well as targeted stretching and strengthening. As a teacher, my goal is to help students feel comfortable and safe in their bodies.
My biggest teaching influence, Judith Hanson Lasater, has taught me to teach people rather than poses while incorporating humor and clarity of speech in my instruction. I continue to work closely with Judith as a student and personal assistant, furthering my understanding of asana, pranayama, non-violent communication, and anatomy.
In 2015, I graduated from the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco, with a 200-hour teaching certificate. This program spanned the course of the year, heavily focusing on deepening home practice to serve as a foundation for teaching. During this time I returned to India to study with Geeta Iyengar. Additionally, I am a Level 2 Relax & Renew® certified teacher.
Join me to rest, refresh and rediscover the brilliance of your true nature.
